In the Travels for Art pages I build up postings of pictures, inspirations and work concerned with my travels that inspire some of my art. The most common arty places I intend to go to more often for inspiration are:
- St Ives, Cornwall: http://shirleyg-artstuff.blogspot.com/p/st-ives.html
- Cockermouth and central Lake District: http://shirleyg-artstuff.blogspot.com/p/travels-for-art-cockermouth-lake.html
- Hastings - love the old town high street antique and design shops and am member of Hastings Arts Forum: http://shirleyg-artstuff.blogspot.com/p/travels-for-art-hastings.html
- Margate - Turner Contemporary http://www.turnercontemporary.org/ and the old town is growing hub of creatives

Lunch in Padstow May 2011 |
Obviously it's all about food and scenery. Wine, food and no home distractions is often where i get ideas and inspiration for drawing. At the Portminster they thought i was a critic with all the photos i took and when i didn't eat half the starter shown below they were worried i was going to give them a bad review. Stupidly i told them the truth and that i didn't need a replacement starter. I just didn't like half the stuff on the chef's special plate -which is amazing as i usually eat everything. I like table pics. I want to paint a series of still lives of them. They show perfect times of relaxed holidays, good company and good food and drink - usually. Maybe i could sell to the cafes. Will perhaps be more a design piece, not sure yet.
